FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
What does the Contract Categorisation Agent reivew?
The Agent reviews the contract itself to determine both what the agreement covers and how it is structured, including:
- Primary subject matter
- Products or services covered
- Contracting parties
- Agreement structure
- References to related agreements or SOWs
- Purpose and scope of the document
What are the configuration options?
Configure the Agent to reflect how your organisation classifies contracts, including:
- Contract Categories
- Contract Types
- Category definitions
- Classification rules
- Fallback classifications
The Agent applies these classifications consistently to every contract it reviews.
Can Category and Contract Type be different?
Yes. Category and Contract Type provide two independent classifications of the same agreement.
For example, a statement of work with a marketing agency could be categorised as Marketing & Creative, while its Contract Type is Statement of Work. This gives you a clearer view of both what your contracts cover and how they are structured.
How does the Agent handle contracts that do not clearly fit a Category?
The Agent classifies contracts according to their primary subject matter rather than incidental references.
Where none of your configured Categories apply, the contract can be assigned to a fallback Category such as Other. This helps prevent unrelated contracts from being forced into an inaccurate classification.
How does Agent automation compare with a manual process?
Without Agent automation, teams manually open, review and classify incoming contracts.
- Contracts require individual review before classification.
- Categories can vary between reviewers.
- Inconsistent fields make reporting and routing less reliable.
With Agent automation, contracts are classified automatically against your defined criteria.
- Category and Contract Type are assigned consistently.
- Contract records are updated automatically.
- Structured data is immediately available for reporting and workflows.
Does the Agent make contract categorisation decisions automatically?
Yes. The Agent reads each contract and automatically assigns its Category and Contract Type based on your configured classifications.
- Category is based on the contract’s primary subject matter.
- Contract Type is based on the agreement structure.
- Both classifications are assessed independently.
- The results are recorded directly in Gatekeeper.
Is there an audit trail?
Every Agent action is recorded in Gatekeeper with a timestamp, including the criteria applied, decision made, supporting evidence and reasoning where applicable.
This creates a searchable record of how each outcome was reached, supporting compliance verification, internal review and audit requirements.
How is my data kept secure and compliant?
Your data stays within Gatekeeper while the Agent performs its work. Actions, decisions and supporting evidence are logged, creating a clear audit trail.
The Agent operates within the permissions, playbooks and authority controls you configure.
Data handling follows Gatekeeper’s enterprise security standards, including SOC 2 Type II compliance and GDPR requirements.
